Such a powerful outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon poor Chinese orphans! An account of the visions and miracles that took place when a revival broke out among them. The children saw angels, demons, heaven and hell, and would report Mr. Baker about their visions that were being revealed to them.

Visions Beyond the Veil

The Bakers started Adullam Rescue Mission for street children in Yunnan Province, China. The children in the home, mostly boys aged from six to eighteen, had a revival during which they had visions of heaven, paradise, angels, demons, hell, biblical events, the things of the future, and even the Antichrist!

Untrained and ignorant
Such were the forgotten, uneducated children in China when the Spirit of God fell upon their humble orphanage, the Adullam Home. The boys spent days in powerful meetings, praying and praising God. Under the anointing of the Holy Spirit, they prophesied, saw visions, and discovered:

Angels… how they operate and protect us
Unbelievers… and their fate
Heavenly occupations… what our jobs will be
Paradise… revealed through the eyes of children
The Throne of God… experiencing true worship
Death… what happens when we die
Demons… and their evil works
The Antichrist… and more visions about the tribulation period

This mighty outpouring was a fulfilment of God’s promise:

…. but this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel: “It shall be in the last days, says God, of My spirit I will pour out upon all flesh. And your sons, and your daughters shall prophesy, your young men shall see visions. And your old men shall dream dreams.” Acts 2:16-17

Around four generations ago…
H.A. Baker wrote ‘Visions Beyond the Veil’, an account of the extended visions of heaven and hell (and more) that children received in his remote orphanage in south-west China about three generations ago.
These experiences and visions (in the early-to-mid 1920s) were documented in H.A. Baker’s book (first published around 1938.
These children experienced an immense and incredible outpouring of the Holy Spirit – so great that they literally ‘experienced heaven’ through visions, were aware of the presence of angels, and were able to describe in great detail what they saw. The result of these intense experiences of God was a fervent passion for worship, the Word of God, and prayer:
