Catherine tells her life story…

from her earliest childhood memories, and the suffering she experienced at such a young age. Her spiritual experiences are also included, such as her encounter with Jesus in heaven during her near-death experience when she was 17. There are also other stories, about miracles in which people were healed.

She overcame her traumas and bad memories; God helped her to get well and grow to become a strong Christian.

I hope that readers and viewers will be encouraged to find their own peace with God as her experiences are true. And God is truly real. He loves His people. He is a faithful God, and He will help us and answer prayers.

Testimony Catherine Hughes – Transcript

Catherine, it’s great to have you with us today.

Catherine Hughes: Thank you for inviting me. Well, my parents died when I was two, so I was fostered out.

When I was 14, I had a nightmare….

And I met Mary, Jesus’ mother. She said, you’re a child of God. And I thought, I’m not worthy to be a child of God. But I believed her. Then I heard Jesus say, do not fear, I’m always with you. So I looked around the room. I couldn’t see Jesus, but His voice was very clear. And I looked back, and Mary had gone.

Then I went to heaven….

And Mary, she took my hand. There was a big table, with disciples around the table. There was a chair at the bottom and a chair at the top. And I thought, I know my place. I’ll sit at the bottom. She took my hand. She said, oh no, you’re going to meet Jesus at the top. So I met Jesus at the top of the table. He had a gold chalice and some bread. And He said to me, this is My body and My blood given for you. This is for you to take now. And I want you to do it often. So I did that.

Then I found myself back in my bedroom. 

I was awake all night because I couldn’t believe what had happened to me! So the next day I went to school. My friend Sandra, she didn’t believe a word of what I said. So I said, oh, well, let’s go to the old church on Saturday, and I’ll tell you again. She said, all right. So I told her the story around the church. And then we met this ‘monk’ [who turned out to be an angel]. And he came to us, and he said, girls, you must say the Lord’s prayer every day and then you’ll go to heaven. We were scared of him, and said, Yes, sir. So then Sandra said:

Did you see that? He went right through the wall!

Yes. Well, that’s because he’s an angel.
She said, well, I believe you now. So that was just amazing.

We don’t want you today

Well, I went on my last holiday with my foster parents to a Butlins holiday camp in Minehead. And their son was getting married in Torquay. So she gave me a green pound note, and said, we don’t want you today. So I put it in my pocket, and I saw a big hill, not far away.

I walked all the way up the hill and I talked with God all day.

Then it was getting dark. So I came down the hill. I couldn’t see the holiday camp. There were all these trees! I thought, oh, how do I get back?

I thought, oh gosh, I’m lost.

Then this man who looked like a Jew, which I found out from school books, that he definitely looked like a Jew…. And he said to me, you are lost, aren’t you? I said, yes, I am. He said, well, I’ve got a Jeep, it’s a green Jeep. He said, I’ll take you home. And I thought, okay. And he got in the Jeep, and he said, you saw Jesus’ mother last month and in heaven [two of her visions].
I said, how do you know? I only told my school friend Sandra about it. Nobody knows!
He said, well, I’m from heaven. I know all about your foster parents. I thought, right, okay. And he took me to the chalet, because I couldn’t even remember the number of the chalet.

My foster mother said, what time do you call this?

I said, I got lost. And your friend Paul took me home.
We don’t have a friend called Paul! And I’d looked, just waved to him, and he’d gone. You didn’t hear any engine moving. He had disappeared.
And in my bedroom, I looked. And the Bible says, you will entertain angels and not know it. And that was another amazing miracle. Absolutely amazing. Anyway….

After that, when I was 15, school finished, and I went to work in Croydon for two months.

The lady that the manager asked was gonna train me up. So about two months later, my foster mother decided to pack my case in the hall, and said, I’m taking you to Red Hill, a working girls’ hostel. So she put me there for two years. I worked in a printing firm as a typist. The girls there were bullies, always punching you: we want money! So I went through another load of abuse.
And they had seances, and my foster mother was into that. So it was spiritual abuse as well. It was like a darkness and oppression.

By the time I was 17, it was summer of 21st of July….

And it was tea time. The family were having tea except me. I went upstairs, because I had so much pain inside me.

I took the tablets and I sat on the windowsill, and I said:

God, if You love me, save me now. And I jumped [out of] the bedroom window, but….

The next minute I could see myself by a light bulb on the hospital ceiling.

I thought, oops, oh dear. And I could look down. I could see the doctors and nurses, and they were trying to revive me. The monitor had gone straight line. And then I saw them put the sheet over my face. And they said, a shame, a 17 year old girl throwing her life away. So I said, oh, sorry, God. I didn’t mean to end it all. It was a cry for help.

Then I went down this tunnel really fast.

I felt as though somebody was taking me down this tunnel. I felt safe. It was ever so fast! Then I came to a bright light, and then I came to a beautiful garden. I thought, this must be heaven. There were like clear gold pavements, and there were fruit trees. There were like little rivers, and there was clear water. You could see like diamonds at the bottom. I thought, wow, this is a beautiful place!

Then I met Jesus, and I remember what He looked like from Sunday school.

And so He held my hands, and He said, it’s not your time yet. I have work for you to do. I can’t promise you’ll be free from pain. And I thought to myself, I don’t want to go back. Jesus showed so much love, and there was so much light coming from Him! And so I can’t say No to Jesus. So I said, yes, Lord, whatever You say, I’ll do. And He smiled at me. He showed so much love. It was absolutely awesome.

Then, next minute, I went really fast down this tunnel again and felt safe.

And then next minute I was in my body. I had a sheet over my face and a tag on my toe. I pulled the sheet off and I got out of bed. I didn’t know I’d broken my heel from jumping the bedroom window. And the doctors and nurses looked as though they’d seen a ghost.

The doctor said, you’ve been dead for 20 minutes.

I said, well, Jesus has sent me back.
And he said, well, I’ve heard about near-death experiences. People were only dead for about 10 minutes. It’s a miracle!
I said, well, yes, it is. Absolutely.

About heaven

He [Jesus] was showing me the garden. And people, they were very young. They were laughing and walking about. Their children were playing. They were just so happy, and everybody looked so young and beautiful! And it was so peaceful. I could smell like, it was like the smell of roses; it was very strong. There was like a cool breeze I could feel on my face. So I knew it was real. I could feel the warmth, and the light was so bright! It was just awesome to be with Jesus! He was so loving and He accepts you as you are, you know. He doesn’t condemn you for anything, because I felt a bit guilty for what I did. All the pain and depression I had just melted away; everything negative had gone. It was just happiness, complete joy and happiness. And it was absolutely awesome.

There was a later date when my [loving] aunt died….

I was real upset, and Jesus brought me to heaven. I saw mansion houses in the distance made of marble and gold and diamonds and precious stones. Awesome. They were so tall, and I couldn’t believe it. It was just amazing. And then Jesus showed me….

First He showed me the Father, God’s throne.

There was a big rainbow over it, and it was really bright. You could see a big gold throne. But where God the Father was, there was a cloud around Him. So you couldn’t see His face. All you could see was His robe and His feet.

And there were four creatures there.

One looked like a lion, one looked like an ox, one looked like an eagle, and one was human. And they were covered in eyes…. really strange. Very strange creatures. And they were worshipping God.

And then there were 24 elders all around worshipping the Lord. 

And then there are loads and loads of beautiful bright angels around. It was just incredible!

Then the Lord showed me a big library; it was ginormous!

And He said, everybody has got a book of life in this library.
Oh wow, that’s awesome!

And then He showed me a warehouse; it was a massive place.

There were body parts, like an arm and a leg and a heart and different organs. And I asked, well, what’s this?
He said, well, this is ready for when people pray for healing, for things they need, like an arm, a leg or an organ. And the angels take them down for them, and they get healed. But, He said, I’m sad because a lot of people don’t have the faith to believe that God’s going to heal them, and replace their organs.
And that’s what that was all about. That was it.

I came back….

I was back here in my bed.

More details about heaven

The throne was so big, so massive! I mean, I was quite miles away, and it was just so enormous. And Jesus was on the right, which I couldn’t see much of Him, because I was looking at the big throne with the Father God. And I wanted to see His face, but there’s a cloud all around Him. I was quite a long way off, and I thought, gosh, Father God is so big.
I could feel the light coming from Him.

And the creatures were worshipping God all the time, saying, Hallelujah, praise God! And the 24 elders, they put their crowns down so many times, and they bowed down to God. And the angels were singing all the time. It was just absolutely awesome. I can’t think of a word for it.

When I held Jesus’ hands, it was like electricity….

but it was tingly. It was like electricity going right through, but it was warm and it didn’t hurt. It was quite a nice sensation. It was like I felt closer to Jesus. He seemed very authoritative, like when He spoke. You know, I felt I had to stand to attention when He talked, but then He was like your best friend. There was so much love when He talked to you. He was more than the best friend! And He knew how you felt about things. It was just a love that I’d never known before. And I felt so close to Him. It was just amazing, His love and how He accepts you as you are! He shows so much love and care when He talks to you, like more than a brother or father or a husband even. You felt so close to Him. It was just amazing.

Every day I think back to Jesus in heaven, because I want to be there.

I didn’t want to come back. You know, I wanted to be with Jesus all the time, because He just has so much love, and He is so amazing. I didn’t want to be away from Him. You know, somebody you’re so close to, you don’t part with them. Every morning when I think about it, and at nighttime, I get a lot of joy and happiness, because sometimes a lot of things are rough in life. But I get so much joy when I think of being with Jesus. I just want to tell everybody!

He said, I’ve got a lot of work for you to do. 

And He said, when you go back, you’ll find that you are only partly healed emotionally from your abusive childhood.
I said, well, why is that?
And He said, I could heal you completely. But the reason is, I want you to be healed in a slow process, because I want to teach you how you’re going to get well. And then you can help other people go through the process of getting well. Okay, you will still suffer because of the abuse. And it will be hard for you, but it is a way of teaching you that you need to go through this process, so that you can help other people, who have been abused and suffered so much as you have. And that’s the reason I’m sending you back.
Yeah, okay. I’d already said, yes, Lord, whatever you say, I’ll do.
I didn’t want to come back. I didn’t want to leave Jesus.

It’s like Jesus was saying to me, I’m giving you My mother….

because from age two, you never had the love of a mother or a father, and you’ve missed out…. You had nothing but abuse up to your first…. when I gave you My mother. There’s been an awful lot of pain and anguish and grief in you, because of that.
I didn’t know any love until He sent His mother to me.

I didn’t know what love was, apart from school, when people are friendly.

That’s the only kind of a bit of love. So the world wasn’t that bad, but it helped me to heal as well. And it gave me strength, so that I could carry on being healed through the Lord, and then help others. And I could understand how other people are going through a great deal of abuse. I can help them come out of it as I came out of all of it. It’s just amazing to Him to meet His mother. She is so loving and so caring, just as you expect her to be. She was absolutely amazing.

I do remember when Mary came to me….

She was talking to me about when Jesus got crucified. She said it was like a sword going through her heart. And then she wanted me to feel some of that, which I did, and I wept. But she said, I’m giving you this, so you can identify your pain with my pain. So I got close to His mother, because I could feel some of the anguish she was going through. And she said, well, I’m giving you this so you understand,  I understand what you’re going through…. Which was quite amazing. I felt much closer to that pain, and I could feel some of my anguish was like being crucified in a way, because….

I lost everything.

I lost my job. I lost my identity as a child, you know. It was like Jesus was being stripped of everything. And Mary said, you’ve been not as much obviously, but you’ve been something similar, but  the Lord is healing you of all of this.

By the time I was 21, I was getting married to David, the Lord had healed me enough to be able to show love to a husband and four children.

Otherwise I wouldn’t have been able to show love or get married!
In that time they did quite a lot of healing, usually during the night, when she would show me things. And He would show me that I can forgive my foster parents, because Jesus on the cross said, forgive them, Father, they know not what they do.

I forgive them.

And Jesus was in sheer agony at the time. And Mary said, you can learn through your pain to forgive your foster parents, because forgiving sets you free.
I kept doing that. And I wrote letters to my…. I didn’t send them. I just wrote letters to write your feelings down on paper, and then scripture. And I got scriptures. The scriptures helped heal the pain that she had caused. So bit by bit, I was able to forgive her; it was hard work. But Mary showed me; she had the scriptures, and said, forgiving her sets you free.
And it did.

And I felt, although the memories are still there, the pain had gone. 

And so a bit by bit, by the time I got married, I wasn’t completely healed. There was still stuff the Lord was working on. But I was healed enough to get married and have a family. And that was quite an awesome process in a way, because Jesus and His mother helped me through it, which is amazing.

I couldn’t tell anybody because nobody would understand, apart from maybe Christians. 

I feel the Lord’s presence, which gives me lot of peace, even when I’m going through bad times.

Not so long back, I was in York, and there was an old lady there….

I was in a coffee shop and he said, I want you to talk to her. I thought, right, okay. I thought, what can I talk about? Well, grandchildren.
I got talking to her. And before I knew it, I was giving her my testimony. She listened and she said,  oh, it’s just what I needed!

She was contemplating suicide!

I thought, wow, I didn’t know. She was going to see her daughter for the last time. And she said, well, you’ve changed my life.
I said, well, Jesus has changed your life.
It’s like God guides you, Jesus guides you to them. I thanked the Lord for that.

She said, I could feel your peace, the peace of God in you. 

I said, well, that’s because Jesus is in me….
To bring her to salvation, which was great.

You know, when you meet these angels, I knew instantly….

because you can feel God’s presence in them. I can instantly! And as soon as I met the first one in where the church was, I knew straight away, this is an angel. I could feel the presence of God in him. And the second one, as soon as he said, well, you’re lost, aren’t you? I thought, oh wow,  there’s another angel! It’s amazing, because it’s a bit like being in heaven, because there’s so much peace around them, and there is so much love as well that they give….

These angels [in heaven] are just awesome!

They were so big as well; they are really big. And you can feel power coming from them, the power of God coming from them. It was a bit intimidating. You think, wow. You could feel God’s love through them as well. Oh, I could have stayed there all the time. It was amazing to feel God’s love through them, and just how they are. You know, in heaven, it’s quite a lot different than the ones on earth.

When I was in heaven, as you’re walking in the garden, I could feel God’s love, like waves.

It was like soft waves coming through. It gave me so much joy all the time! And I just felt I want to dance, like some people were dancing at a later time when I saw it was there.
He conveys His love; it’s like electric waves. And you feel so warm! There’s no negative stuff in you anymore, no pain. It’s like a very powerful love, and a feeling of belonging, like this is my home, you know. I felt as if I had always been there! It’s like a very strong belonging to God, and a very close, intimate connection.

It was like somebody that you love so much hugging you all the time!

It was like I felt as though God was hugging me all the time. It was just an amazing feeling. It was absolutely awesome. It’s the love of Jesus I feel. That’s what gets me through, when bad things happen, especially. I always feel the love of Jesus, and it’s like a hunger. I want to be close to Jesus all the time. And when I pray and I feel this hunger, or I pray in tongues or pray in English, I feel drawing back to heaven where Jesus is. And I feel like He has given me a hug again. That’s the relationship with Jesus that I’ve got, that keeps me going.

Everybody can have this relationship with Jesus….

and be close and feel His love, you know. And that’s exactly what keeps me going all the time.

Every time somebody is saved, the angels are singing.

And [there is] a great big celebration in heaven, every time a soul is saved! Yeah.

Because He has suffered, He knows how we feel.

He knows every pain we go through. And He says, I identify with you: all your pain and suffering.
So we are closer to Him because He feels our pain. And He also rejoices with us!

When people get saved….

Even God is dancing with His fingers. He’s got such big fingers. And everybody is dancing with the joy of a saving of a soul. So it’s just amazing to see God dancing with His big fingers! It was just awesome! And Jesus and everyone were dancing and singing. It was like a big celebration like we have. It’s just awesome.
You don’t think you…. I didn’t expect angels to dance, or even God with His big fingers dancing. I was amazed. And there’s so much joy in those millions of angels singing and dancing! I thought, wow, it’s  like a big party!

I didn’t realize how massive God is. 

And the angels, I didn’t realize that they were so loving as they are. And I never thought they could be free to sing and dance and celebrate. Because I always thought angels were sort of serious, you know, all the time. But they’re not. They have joy, and they celebrate and dance. I couldn’t believe it. I was amazed!

Wiping the dust of your feet

Well, I was in a church. I started doing a preaching course, and they didn’t like the power of the Holy Spirit. And they didn’t like that God heals today. And the Lord said to me, the Bible says, if the churches don’t accept the power of the gospel, wipe the dust off your feet.
Right. Okay. So I did what the Lord said.

Now the Lord guided me to a big church in Manchester, called Audacious Church.

There are 8,000 people in. And then they do things like feeding the poor. And every evening you can go and help. Then I have my plan with God, where I’m sure God’s gonna show me to witness to these people. There are so many options to go around and witnessing in Manchester! So I wait on the Lord for His guidance. And I just wanna give my testimony, and tell everybody how wonderful Jesus is and the angels in heaven. So I’m just waiting on the Lord for Him to open more doors now. I know He will.

I’m really praying for *revival as I believe that will happen.

I really long for souls to be saved. Can’t bear the thought of people not being saved, missing out on God. They’re doomed if they don’t come to God. It breaks my heart, it breaks Jesus’ heart, when souls are lost! I feel that, and I’m so eager in the Lord to go around and bring lost souls to the Lord. The Lord is working things out gradually in His time.

*“To the Western European Christians who repent after the Rapture….”
Because the churches will be raptured. But then a great revival: millions and millions of people will get saved! And God says to the European Christians who get saved after the Rapture, “flee to Switzerland, and take your stand in the mountains. I will meet with you there”, says the Lord of battles, the Lord mighty in battle, who has never lost a battle, nor ever will lose a battle. I will make My enemies My footstool! Behold, I will strengthen the Swiss remnant, and many within the Catholic Church will understand in that day that a false pope has come to power, and has joined forces with the Antichrist, proclaiming him ’god’.
And many leaders within the Catholic Church will flee into Switzerland for safety. And many from France and Germany, and some from Austria, will flee into Switzerland.” – Pastor and Prophet Phillip Barnett

Jesus came to me last Christmas [2022]; it was six o’clock in the morning….

He said, Father God has put the sun in place. And He said, time is running out. As much as I want to give more time to witness, now is the time to move on to start witnessing. Now is your time as well to start witnessing. So it’s gonna start happening, yeah.

It’s got my life story in it.

And in America, as far as I know, they’re going to do a film.

I’ve not heard much about that. It’s up to the Lord if that comes about. That’s going on in America. They ring me up frequently about it. It’s supposed to come out this summer, but I’ll go wait on the Lord for that one.So it [the book] is called Flickering Light Becomes a Glow. And it’s my life story, and things like miracles, things that have happened. And I wrote a poem book just with a few poems. And then I wrote my uncle’s book, The Mancunian Hero. He was in the Royal Navy, and there were 15 ships in the Mediterranean; 14 drowned. And he saved the ship while shooting the enemy. And he got a medal from Malta, a hero medal. So I promised him I’d write a book: The Mancunian Hero from Manchester. So there you go.
Okay….

My dearly beloved Jesus, we pray for the audience, and that You will show them Your love, that they’ll want to come to know You. And we pray that they will see Your love and the love of the Father. And we also pray especially for those people who may be depressed, contemplating suicide. We pray by the power of Your Holy Spirit, You’ll touch their hearts, Lord, and bring them to Your salvation. We pray that the audience will come to know Your love, that they’ll have a thirst to come to Your salvation. We thank You for Your love, Lord Jesus. And we thank You that you are going to bring revival to America and all around the world. In Jesus’ precious name, amen.
